Team Lead – UK Professional Services / Retail Practice
This role combines people leadership, customer-facing delivery oversight, solution quality, and retail planning expertise. The successful candidate will be responsible for coaching and developing a team of consultants, ensuring high-quality project delivery, supporting customer success, and helping strengthen Board’s retail planning practice in the UK.
The role is ideal for someone who has strong consulting experience, understands enterprise planning solutions, and can confidently guide teams and customers through complex delivery engagements. Knowledge of retail planning processes such as merchandise planning, assortment planning, demand planning, sales planning, supply chain planning, store planning, and retail KPIs will be highly valuable.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & People Development
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of approximately seven Professional Services consultants.
- Provide day-to-day guidance, support, and mentoring to consultants across project delivery, solution design, customer engagement, and personal development.
- Support onboarding, training, and capability development for new and existing team members.
- Set clear expectations for performance, utilization, delivery quality, and professional growth.
- Conduct regular one-to-ones, performance discussions, and development planning with team members.
- Create a collaborative, accountable, and customer-focused team culture.
- Identify skills gaps across the team and work with Professional Services leadership to address training, staffing, and development needs.
- Oversee the successful delivery of Board implementation projects across the UK customer base.
- Work closely with Project Managers, Solution Architects, and consultants to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to a high-quality standard.
- Provide guidance on project risks, escalations, resourcing challenges, solution design decisions, and customer concerns.
- Support project governance through regular delivery reviews, status updates, and risk management.
- Ensure adherence to Board delivery methodologies, standards, documentation practices, and implementation best practices.
- Promote consistent use of solution design documents, testing approaches, deployment standards, and customer enablement practices.
- Help resolve delivery challenges by balancing customer outcomes, scope, quality, timelines, and team capacity.
- Support the growth and development of Board’s retail planning capability in the UK.
- Act as a subject matter expert or senior advisor on retail planning engagements where required.
- Bring practical understanding of retail planning processes, including areas such as: Merchandise financial planning, Assortment and range planning, Demand planning and forecasting, Sales and margin planning, Store and channel planning, Inventory and replenishment planning, Retail calendars, seasonality, hierarchies, and KPIs
- Guide consultants in understanding retail customer requirements and translating them into effective Board solution designs.
- Support the development of reusable retail assets, accelerators, templates, methodologies, and best-practice guidance.
- Partner with Sales, Pre-Sales, Customer Success, and Professional Services leadership to support retail opportunities, scope definition, and delivery planning.
- Stay current with retail planning trends, customer needs, and Board platform capabilities relevant to the retail sector.
- Act as a trusted advisor to customer stakeholders, particularly on complex or strategic engagements.
- Build strong relationships with customer sponsors, project leads, business users, and technical stakeholders.
- Support consultants in leading structured workshops, requirements gathering sessions, design reviews, and customer presentations.
- Help customers understand Board best practices and guide them toward scalable, practical planning solutions.
- Proactively manage escalations and customer concerns in collaboration with Project Managers and Professional Services leadership.
- Represent Board professionally and confidently in senior customer conversations.
- Provide guidance and quality assurance across Board solution designs.
- Support teams in designing scalable planning, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and analytics solutions on the Board Intelligent Planning Platform.
- Apply strong knowledge of multidimensional data models, cubes, procedures, capsules, workflows, calculations, and dashboards.
- Help teams translate customer requirements into effective solution designs, data structures, planning logic, integrations, and reporting outputs.
- Promote best practices for performance, scalability, maintainability, testing, and governance.
- Support solution reviews and design validation for complex or high-risk projects.
- Collaborate with Solution Architects and global centres of excellence to align with Board standards and evolving best practices.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of Professional Services delivery methods, tools, templates, and standards.
- Support resource planning and allocation in partnership with Professional Services leadership.
- Provide input into hiring, interviewing, and team structure decisions where required.
- Support pre-sales activities, including discovery, demonstrations, scoping, estimation, and Statements of Work.
- Share knowledge across the UK team and wider Professional Services organization.
- Promote collaboration across Professional Services, Sales, Pre-Sales, Customer Success, Product, and Partner teams.
Leadership & Consulting Skills
- Experience leading, mentoring, or managing consultants in a Professional Services, consulting, systems implementation, or customer delivery environment.
- Strong customer-facing consulting skills with the ability to manage senior stakeholders and guide business conversations.
- Ability to balance people leadership with delivery oversight and hands-on problem solving.
- Strong communication, presentation, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities across multiple projects, customers, and internal initiatives.
- Comfortable handling escalations, delivery risks, and complex customer situations.

- Strong hands-on experience with the Board Intelligent Planning Platform or similar EPM, CPM, planning, or analytics platforms.
- Good understanding of Board solution design concepts, including multidimensional modelling, data flows, procedures, calculations, dashboards, workflows, and reporting.
- Experience designing and delivering enterprise planning, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, or operational planning solutions.
- Understanding of data integration concepts, including ERP, data warehouse, SQL, ETL, APIs, and cloud data platforms.
- Ability to review solution designs and challenge teams constructively on scalability, maintainability, and performance.
- Board certification is highly desirable.
Retail & Planning Domain Knowledge
- Strong understanding of retail planning processes is highly desirable.
- Experience with merchandise planning, demand planning, sales planning, inventory planning, supply chain planning, or store/channel planning would be a strong advantage.
- Understanding of retail data structures such as product hierarchies, location hierarchies, time dimensions, seasons, channels, and customer segments.
- Knowledge of retail KPIs such as sales, margin, markdown, stock, availability, sell-through, forecast accuracy, inventory turns, and service levels.
- Ability to translate retail business requirements into structured planning models and system designs.
Delivery & Project Skills
- Experience supporting or leading full project lifecycles from discovery and design through build, testing, deployment, and post-go-live support.
- Strong understanding of implementation methodologies and delivery governance.
- Ability to work closely with Project Managers to manage scope, timelines, dependencies, risks, and customer expectations.
- Experience supporting UAT, training, knowledge transfer, and customer adoption.
- Familiarity with project management methods such as PRINCE2, PMI/PMP, Agile, or SCRUM is beneficial.
Experience Required
- 7+ years of experience in Professional Services, consulting, enterprise software implementation, EPM, CPM, BI, retail planning, or related roles.
- 2+ years of experience leading, mentoring, or managing consultants or delivery teams.
- Proven track record of delivering customer-facing planning, reporting, analytics, or transformation projects.
- Experience working with retail or consumer-focused organizations is strongly preferred.
- Hands-on experience with Board is highly desirable; experience with similar platforms such as Anaplan, SAP BPC, Hyperion, OneStream, Tagetik, o9, Kinaxis, or Blue Yonder may also be relevant.
- Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Supply Chain, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications in Board, EPM, project management, retail planning, supply chain, or analytics are desirable.
